2 Keys to Boosting Your Inner Confidence

Building inner confidence is essential for personal growth and living authentically. In this post, I'll share two key strategies to boost your self-confidence: discovering your core values and exercising your confidence muscle. These simple yet powerful steps will help you align with your true self and embrace new opportunities. Read on to learn how to unlock your inner strength and start living with confidence.

I'm Lucy Miranda, a certified life coach, and I help people boost their confidence. One thing I've learned, both for myself and my clients, is that inner confidence is absolutely key.

There are tons of strategies, thought patterns, and practical tips out there for improving your life and feeling better about yourself. But here's the catch: none of that matters if you don't have a solid foundation. That foundation is the real you, the one you know deep down. And guess what? It takes confidence to uncover and embrace that true self. So, here are two essential keys to building real inner confidence.

1. Discover Your Core Values

Personal values are a huge passion of mine. I get really excited talking about them, and for a good reason – they’re crucial for genuine inner confidence. Your values are deep within you, at the very core of who you are. They’re the building blocks, the foundation for your life. Values are those things that are most important to you, like beliefs, progress, family, fun, nature, achievement, or freedom.

Ever wonder why certain people or situations leave you feeling angry, frustrated, or drained? It’s because one or more of your values are being denied or suppressed. On the flip side, those moments when you feel truly alive and buzzing? That’s when your values are being honored.

Your values are unique to you, and no one can take them away. They’re always there, just waiting for you to recognize and use them. When you understand your values, you can start making choices that align with them. It’s simple, and it feels amazing because it means you’re living authentically.

2. Exercise Your Confidence Muscle

Think of confidence as a muscle. Like any muscle, it needs regular exercise to stay strong. Unlike your biceps or glutes, your confidence muscle can be harder to find. But the principle is the same – exercise it regularly, and you’ll see results.

Maybe you’re someone who doesn’t take many risks. You go through your day doing what needs to be done, but you don’t really stretch yourself. You might avoid doing something because it feels too scary, or you think, “I’m not good enough,” “That’s not who I am,” or “I don’t really want it anyway.” Living within your comfort zone means you need less confidence, and so, over time, you become less confident.

To strengthen your confidence muscle, you need to take risks – big or small. Stretch yourself in new directions, try something new, or do something a bit differently. Be open to the possibilities around you and push yourself to expand what you know, what you do, and who you are. The more you open up to risks and opportunities, the more confidence you’ll develop. So, what will you do today to exercise your confidence muscle?
